Understanding the Kaiju Paradise Bestiary

The Bestiary serves as the primary encyclopedia for all Raytraxian species within the facility. Introduced in the v3.1 update, this system allows players to monitor their progression, read creator-provided lore descriptions, and track specific gameplay statistics for every transformation they unlock.

When you open the Bestiary interface, the background track "Snooping" by Fishcracks plays. Each Raytraxian icon features unique hover sounds—for example, Catte produces a splat sound, while Crawlipede plays a crawling noise. These audio details add depth to the cataloging experience.

Navigation Tip

Hover over each Raytraxian icon in the Bestiary to hear their unique sound effects. Some removed entries had special audio cues that are no longer accessible in current builds.

The Bestiary divides all Raytraxians into distinct categories based on their availability conditions. Understanding these categories helps you plan which transformations to pursue during different server events.

How to Unlock Bestiary Entries

Standard entries require you to infect five human survivors while playing as the corresponding Raytraxian. Once the fifth infection lands, the entry automatically unlocks in your Bestiary with full details, including the species' environment description and lore.

However, several Raytraxians feature unique unlock conditions that deviate from the standard five-infection rule.

Goggle Nightcrawler

  • Unlock: Transform once
  • No infections required
  • Entry granted on transformation

Buck

  • Unlock: Complete an Errand
  • Task-based requirement
  • No infection count needed

Goggleless Nightcrawler

  • Unlock: Infect 10 survivors
  • Double the standard requirement
  • Demands sustained aggression
Special Entry Alert

The Zombie Raytraxian has a Bestiary entry but cannot be obtained in public servers. You will need access to private servers with commands to unlock this specific entry.

1

Select Your Target Raytraxian

Identify which Raytraxian entry you want to unlock. Check the Bestiary category to determine if you need a specific server event (Power Outage or Blackout) to access their transformation method.

2

Transform Into the Species

Locate the required transmogrifying item or environmental hazard for your chosen Raytraxian. Step into the hazard or use the item to initiate the transformation sequence.

3

Track Down Human Survivors

Patrol the facility for human players. Use your Raytraxian abilities to corner and infect survivors. Each successful infection brings you closer to the five-infection threshold.

4

Reach the Infection Milestone

Land your fifth infection as that specific Raytraxian. The Bestiary entry unlocks automatically. You will hear a confirmation sound and the entry's icon lights up in the catalog.

5

Review the Unlocked Entry

Open the Bestiary menu and select your newly unlocked Raytraxian. Read the creator-provided description, check your kill count, and review infection statistics for that species.

Removed and Retired Entries

Over the course of development, several Raytraxians have been removed from the Bestiary. These entries no longer appear in the current catalog but hold historical significance for long-time players.

The total entry count has fluctuated over time. At its peak, the Bestiary contained 33 entries. After removals, the count dropped before settling at the current 27 active entries (30 including some legacy tracking data).

Legacy Information

Slime Pup, Slime Hound, and Slime Pup Dragon each had a single Bestiary entry despite supporting multiple color variants. Golden and Diamond versions were counted as separate transfurs internally but shared one entry visually.

Removed Entry Trivia

The removed Raytraxians featured unique Bestiary interactions that are no longer experienceable:

  • Slime Pup/Dragon/Hound: All played a squeak sound effect on hover, with Slime Hound at a lower pitch
  • Protogen: Would display a Blue Screen of Death (BSOD) if hovered over too many times
  • Dark Protogen: Did not share the BSOD effect despite being a variant
  • All removed entries: Previously played the standard infection sound on hover before the feature was removed

Bestiary Completion Strategy

Completing the Bestiary requires patience, event awareness, and strategic gameplay. Each entry you unlock grants 200 credits through the natural infection milestone system, totaling approximately 4,800 credits across all 27 current entries.

Credit Reward Clarification

The 4,800 credit total is not a lump-sum completion bonus. You earn these credits incrementally—200 per entry—as you achieve five infections for each Raytraxian. The credits accumulate through normal gameplay.

Event-Based Priority System

Since Power Outage and Blackout events control access to 13 of the 27 entries, you should prioritize event-specific Raytraxians when those events activate.

Priority TierRaytraxiansStrategy
Tier 1 (Highest)Buck, NightcrawlerSpecial unlock conditions, tackle first
Tier 2 (High)Hebi, Jammer, Night ShadeBlackout-only, limited windows
Tier 3 (Medium)Manic, Dagoda, Melon ShorkPower Outage, dual-event options
Tier 4 (Standard)All Normal entriesPursue during downtime between events

Bestiary Completion Checklist:

  • Unlock all 17 Normal category entries
  • Complete Buck's Errand for his entry
  • Transform into Goggle Nightcrawler for entry
  • Infect 10 survivors as Goggleless Nightcrawler
  • Unlock all 5 Power Outage entries
  • Unlock all 8 Blackout entries
  • Collect all 3 Exclusive category entries
Efficient Infection Farming

Focus on areas with high survivor traffic during events. Power Outage and Blackout events reduce visibility for humans, making it easier to land infections on multiple survivors quickly.

Bestiary FAQ

Q: How many entries are in the current Kaiju Paradise Bestiary?

There are currently 27 active entries in the Bestiary, spread across four categories: Normal (17), Power Outage (5), Blackout (8), and Exclusive (3). The total count including some legacy data reaches 30, but two Raytraxians (Charem and Tiger Shork) were removed before ever receiving entries.

Q: What is the fastest way to unlock Bestiary entries?

The standard method requires infecting 5 survivors as each Raytraxian. Focus on Normal category entries first since they are always available. For event-specific entries, wait for Power Outage or Blackout events and target those Raytraxians immediately while the event is active.

Q: Do you get credits for completing the entire Bestiary?

There is no lump-sum completion reward. The 4,800 credit total comes from earning 200 credits per entry through the standard infection milestone system. You receive these credits naturally as you unlock each entry by infecting 5 survivors.

Q: Can you still unlock the Zombie Raytraxian entry?

The Zombie entry exists in the Bestiary but cannot be obtained in public servers. You need access to a private server with commands enabled to unlock this particular entry.

Q: What happened to the Slime Pup and Protogen entries?

Both were removed from the Bestiary during content updates. Slime Pup, Slime Hound, and Slime Pup Dragon each had one shared entry despite color variants. Protogen featured a unique BSOD easter egg when hovered over repeatedly, while Dark Protogen did not share this effect.
